European Joint Theory/Experiment Meeting on Membranes

We have an honour and a pleasure of inviting you to the next European Joint Theory/Experiment Meeting on Membranes (EJTEMM) that will take place in Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia, between January 28th and 30th, 2026.

The research of membranes is a subject of increasing interest in many scientific fields, in particular those considering living organisms. Discoveries on the nano and micro scales are being connected to the behaviour of organisms, communities and ecosystems on the global and universal scale, thereby opening huge possibilities to application of knowledge on the membranes. Theoretical models of membrane features introduce a highly predictable description into the science of living systems which was in the past considered a too complex task. On the other hand, advanced technologies are enabling the experimental insight into these systems. The interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research is highly warranted and we are looking forward to the meeting of experts from different fields, including the field of EVs.

Abstract submission deadline: 30th November, 2025
Early bird registration deadline: 15th November, 2025

3rd MOVE symposium

The mission of MOVE (MObility for VEsicles research in Europe) is to encourage communication between the societies at all levels of membership, with the purpose of promoting extracellular vesicle (EV) research and understanding across Europe. The 3rd MOVE symposium will be held between 7th and 10th of October 2025 in Tartu, Estonia. The symposium will emphasize critical discussions on the myths and realities of the EV fields including fundamentals of EVs biology, EVs in health and disease, EV based biomarkers and therapy and technology and methodology advancements in EV field.

Early registration deadline: August 15th, 2025

Lecture on extracellular vesicles by prof. Yong Song Gho

Lecture “NanoCosmos: Extracellular Vesicles as Small Biological Systems for a Bigger Impact on Medicine” by prof. Yong Song Gho will be held on Tuesday, 22th April 2025 at the Seminar of the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, Vrazov trg 2, Ljubljana (2nd floor).

Prof. Gho is a leading researcher in the field of extracellular vesicles. His group is primarily interested in the role of vesicles in host-pathogen interactions and the use of vesicles for drug delivery and as vaccines, especially in the context of cancer. Prof. Gho is a professor at Pohang University of Science and Technology and director of the Global Research Institute for Exosome (South Korea).

12th Socratic lectures

The 12th Socratic lectures symposium was held online on 11th of January 2025 with several lectures and two plenary sessions dedicated to extracellular vesicles: Plant EVs and Nanostructurome Pipeline. Plenary lectures on extracellular vesicles were given by Saara Laitinen (“Extracellular vesicles from blood cells and in blood. The avenue of future therapies”) and Vendula Hlavackova Pospichalova (“Extracellular vesicles in ovarian cancer”).

SiN-EV meeting 2024

The annual SiN-EV meeting 2024 will be held on Tuesday, 17th September 2024, at the Faculty of Medicine University of Ljubljana. The meeting is free of charge.

The meeting will consist of 3 sessions:
1. Plenary lectures (Clotilde Théry, INSERM Institute Curie, Paris, France; Christian Neri, INSERM, Sorbonne Université, Paris, France).
2. Presentations of resources and recommendations for EV isolation and analysis (MISEV, blood, urine, cerebrospinal fluid) and discussion.
3. Presentations of research results of extracellular vesicle studies. In this session, apart from regular short presentations, there will also be opportunities for short presentations of preliminary results or study design for younger researchers.

You are invited to express your interest for the talk (title, very short description or article doi, type of presentation) using the link https://forms.gle/k6Aohw1xorHbTCdz9 by 14th June 2024.

You can register for the meeting at https://forms.gle/MHnPPRXu5TezD8w2A.
