Study interests: 1) Extracorporeal blood circulation (EBC) is essential for most open-heart surgeries. EBC often triggers a systemic inflammatory response, which can lead to postoperative complications or death. We are interested in platelet EVs as potential biomarkers of adverse events during and after EBC. 2) Platinum-resistant ovarian cancer is invariably a fatal disease, and therefore Pt sensitivity continues to be the major prognostic determinant. We are interested in evaluation of EpCAM-positive EVs in patient’s body fluids to assess early response to pharmacotherapy.
