Laboratory of Clinical Biophysics
The Laboratory is situated at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University Medical Centre Ljubljana with the intention to be easily reached by the patients from different hospital buildings. Because the EV samples are sensitive to movement, the blood sampling can be performed in the same room where the processing and assessment take place. Two specialized collaborators are skilled for blood sampling.

Institute of Cell Biology, Center for Electron Microscopy
For characterization of EVs we use methods of transmission electron microscopy, as are negative staining and ultrathin resin sections, and also methods of scanning electron microscopy. The proteins of EVs can be detected with immunolabelling on cryo-ultrathin sections. Larger EVs (>1 µm) are studied with fluorescence microscopy, phase-contrast microscopy in fixed cells or in living cells.
